Happy Cinco de Mayo! Hope you’re having lots of margaritas and other Mexican Happiness today!

It’s been a busy day here at Chez Brabec – both for me and for Charles. We’ve also had an influx of Crazy Dog disease, so that’s kept us hopping too.

My niece Christina is getting married next year – so today we decided to David’s Bridal and have her try on wedding gowns. If she found something she liked, we’d buy a dress – but we weren’t counting on anything. She tried on 4 different dresses, and fell in LOVE with a beautiful princess ball gown. Out of all of the ones she tried on – this one simply made her face light up – and you could tell she had her ‘princess’ moment. They do a really cute thing at the shop – when a bride finds her dress, they tell her to make a wish and give her a bell to ring. While we were there today – there were a few bells run – which was a lot of fun! I did get a few photos of her in the dress, but I don’t want to post any photos where her fiance may see them – I’ll figure something out though

There has been so much drama going on there lately – and I’m at a serious loss to figure out why. Jessie’s home from college, and is having a lot of problems fitting back into life at home – it sucks – I know, I’ve been ther – but her behavior is reprehensible. It’s gotten so bad, that I told her the other day, I”m not going to pay for her books any longer. I simply am not going to reward her for doing the things that she’s doing. She’s told her sisters that she wishes they’d kill themselves (which is a VERY hot button topic due to things that have happened to the girls in the past few years). She’s hit her mother, and basically, she’s posted all over facebook all kinds of crap. I can’t do much – but it’s obvious that something needs to be done. She’s said a few horrible things to me too – but honestly, what she’s done to her mom and sisters is far far worse. I don’t know why she feels the way she does, or what’s triggering these explosive outbursts – but she really needs to get a handle on herself – or she’s going to damage her chances of being able to do what she wants to in life.

Not sure what tomorrow’s going to bring – since I was away all day today – I want to spend tomorrow with Charles. We’ve got laundry to do and housework to take care of – and a little bit of work to take care of so I can meet my deadlines. Nothing fun, but it is what it is.

This weekend, it’s supposed to be the ‘super moon’. It’s stormy – so I haven’t been able to get a glimpse of it – however, if the behavior of the dogs is ANY indication – it’s got them all fired up. Penny has decided that she’s part mountain goat – and is climbing everything. We’ve caught her climbing over the kitchen gate and the gate we have set up to block the office. She climbs all over the furniture – and while I took a nap this afternoon – she took the opportunity to crawl all over my head. (And of course, she’d escaped from the kitchen at the time!) I think that she’s trying to be with her people – but I’ll tell ya – she’s got her Daddy and I at our wits end – because we’re just simply at a loss to try and keep her in one place for a bit. But goodness, she sure is cute!

Well, I”m going to wrap this up and try to get some sleep. See you tomorrow.

There’s been a lot going on work wise the past few days – and honestly, it’s kind of crazy – so many different things happening and of course, it’s all just one giant mess. Thankfully it’s seeming to all work out, and hopefully in the next few days, things will work themselves out. I can’t do much about it actually, so I’m trying not to stress about those things I have no control over. Life is what it is.

Tonight, Charles and I made dinner, and then we’ve been hanging out and playing with the dogs. It’s been pretty quiet – a nice quiet evening together – which we both need . I am SO ready for vacation – 14 days – and we’ll be away for a week and a half…spending time on a cruise ship will just be awesome. And days at Disney – well, how can THAT be bad?

Going to putter for a bit – trainwreck TV is on!

It’s hard to believe that April’s over already. And yes, I know, I hardly did much blogging – but I have just not felt like doing a lot of writing – and seeing that I was trying to finish up the semester with my class – I was a bit busy. Thankfully, that’s over, and now I have some free time to get back to the things I enjoy. I”m planning on making writing more of a focus over the summer – and will be spending more time being creative and away from the computer – I’ve got a few things I want to accomplish, and with it being summer – it’s a good time to do it.

May’s going to be a busy month – Charles and I are going on a short 3-day trip to WDW and then a 7-day cruise on the Disney Fantasy this month, and when we return, I’m heading out to Chicago for a few days to train a new hire class. So, more frequent flyer miles for me. (It’s not India, but I’ll get back there eventually!)

Have been kicking around the idea of writing some stream of consciousness pieces or short story-lets based on pictures of things I find online (Pinterest mostly), and of course, continuing with my doodling and zen tangles – so expect to see some of that too

Right now, I’m going to go grab my puppy, my hubby, and my jammies and call it a night.

See you tomorrow!

The chorus of my evenings has become the lovely song of my Snarlin Marlin Phinny and his sister Penny wrestling around on the floor of the office. It’s hysterical to watch them – because sometimes I think he’s just not so sure of what’s happening to him – because really – he’s being bested by a GIRL! And one who’s younger than him at that.

He’s a goober. I’ll have to try and get a quality video of the wrestling sometime – because honestly, it’s one of those things you have to experience to appreciate fully!

I’m feeling a lot better today – it’s been a long week – and honestly, I’m glad the first part of it is over. I hope to never relive days like THAT again.

Busy days playing catch up from being sick for the days I’m out of the office – and just don’t feel like writing a lot right now – so I’m going to wrap things up, grab a dog, and go read

Last week turned out to be a week that not much got done. After Steph left on Tuesday evening, I worked at home on Wednesday – because a tooth that I’d cracked a while ago (during my first trip to India) had started bothering me- and I knew it wasn’t going to be good. By Thursday, I’d given into the fact that I really needed to see a dentist, and called a local one that I’d been keeping on my ‘list of dentists to keep in mind’. Couldn’t get an appointment until Monday – which didn’t surprise me at all. I just was hoping to get seen on Friday.

Saturday, Charles and I had a wedding to go to. He got up and ran some errands on Saturday morning, and by the time he had gotten home, I was getting up and getting dressed to go – but I was in a great deal of pain. We decided that Jack and Ely would understand if we didn’t go – and I went back to bed for the day. (And the rest of Sunday as well). I’d say that drugs are good, because that’s what got me through the weekend – but honestly, I would have much rather seen the OUTSIDE during this wonderful weekend. (Next weekend for sure!)

So, this morning, I got up and Charles took me to the Dentist. Of course, my tooth wasn’t hurting at all! But knowing how these things go, Charles scooped me up and took me to the office. They were VERY nice – and good for this big ole chicken. We decided that we were going to need to take the tooth out, and since I preferred to be asleep, we did a sedation process – they gave me two pills to take before they started. We went and picked those up, and then I came home and crashed for a few hours – took the pills (which made me REALLY loopy) and then headed back to the dentist.

The process itself wasn’t so bad – but my nerves didn’t help things. The pressure vs pain thing for me is a hard thing to deal with – and he was really good about telling me what to expect. (Although honestly, I’d have preferred nothing at all!) But now, I’m home, with pain meds and puppy dogs – and a husband who’s doing whatever I need – all I need to do is ask.

So, I”m going to wrap this up, and go back to sleeping. (Yawn) After all the sleep I did this weekend, I find it hard to believe I’m so sleepy!

Happy Easter!

Spring has most definitely sprung here in Raleigh. The weather has been spectacular the past few days, and I have actually been able to spend some time out in it. I haven’t taken my camera out for a walk yet, but I had a paper to write and stuff to get caught up.on for class. I will be quite happy when the semester ends though. I just need a break from the extra stuff. Considering that I have a few major projects that are on the horizon, the extra time will be fannytastic.

Have been working on a custom graphic for my friend Haven. Its been a joint collaboration of her input and my pencil, but I wrapped it up this weekend and sent the digital files to her. Now I want to design some tag work for her to use with her custom pieces so she can include them when she ships what she makes.

Had a bit of some funny moody time today. The more I think about it the more miffed I get about the crap that happened in and after Vegas. I honestly feel truly taken advantage if - especially when I cant think of what I may have done that warranted being treated how I was. I had thought about reaching out to her to get some closure, but I don’t know if it will ever explain everything. And honestly, nothing will ever repair the damage that she did to our friendship. Not everything can be redirected, no matter how much you may want it. Its for the best though I guess because I know where my tolerance limits lay now.

Going to go back to reading Soldier Dogs and unwinding before Monday.

Hard to believe! Some storms are rolling through tonight, so we have a bedfull of pups. Love the snuggly moments. Don’t have a whole lot to say tonight, so I am going to wrap this up and cuddle with Penny doodles!
